Better Connected™ Suzuki 2012 (and Earlier) NMEA Complete Bundle for Lowrance/Garmin/Humminbird/Simrad

This is our Better Connected™ Complete NMEA Kit for 2012 and earlier Suzuki Outboards. All Suzuki Models with manufacturing dates after 2008 will work, and some Suzuki outboards as early as 1999 may work.  Owners with outboards produced before 2008, please contact us to verify you have the correct connections in your outboard to support an NMEA 2000 network.

Some 2008 to 2012 Suzuki models require an additional cable (990C0-88136) for a complete installation, about half the time.  Please contact us with your HP and serial number, and we can look up the cable harness you have and also help you know how to verify exactly which version you need.

Models earlier than 2008 ALL require our 2007 & Earlier adapter cable – SMIS to SDS.  This is instead of the adapter part number ending in 88136 described above.  This cable adapts a service diagnostic port on the outboard for NMEA 2000 use.

If you own a 2012, or earlier, Suzuki Outboard, with a Lowrance (HDS or Elite), Garmin (ECHOMap or GPSMap), Simrad (GO, NSX, NSS evo3S or NSO evo3S), or Humminbird (Solix or Apex) fish finder(s), , this is the kit for you.

This Suzuki Manufactured NMEA 2000 cable contains V2.9 Firmware and is specifically designed for Suzuki Outboards Manufactured from 1999 to 2012.

These cables can be used with any model from 9.9 to 300 HP.

Before ordering this bundle, please contact us to let us help determine if you need this additional adapter cable. Or, if you have checked inside your outboard and can see that it contains a 4 pin connection identical to the connector photo shown on this adapter cable's web page, then you do not need this adapter cable for your installation.

Better Connected™ Suzuki NMEA 2000 2007 & Earlier Adapter Cable - SMIS to SDS

Required in almost all Suzuki Outboards that support NMEA manufactured prior to 2008 Instead of the cable above. Please get in touch if you are uncertain if your outboard is supported or not.

Better Connected™ NMEA Power Cable

By default, this kit comes with a fused power lead. This is used when you are either connecting power directly from your battery, or if you are taking power from a power lead going to other devices, like the power circuit going to your fish finder. If you have a fusebox on your boat, with open/empty/unused fuse locations and want to add the NMEA network fuse into the power circuit there, then you should choose the unfused power lead.

Better Connected™ NMEA Backbone Cable (10'/3m, 15'/5m 20'/7m)

This cable needs to span the distance from your stern electrical area to your helm electrical area. 10 foot is common for most midships console boats under 23' long. 15 feet is needed about 5% of the time. Tiller steered boats do not require any Backbone Cable. Tiller owners should set the quantity of this cable to 0, below.

Description

This is our Suzuki NMEA Complete Bundle (Pre 2012) for Suzuki Outboards manufactured before 2013, and Lowrance, Garmin, Humminbird, or Simrad fish finders.

 

Fishfinder Compatibility

Firstly, you need a Fish Finder with NMEA capability:

Lowrance
  • Elite Series
  • HDS Series
SimRad
  • GO Series
  • NSX Series
  • NSS evo3S Series
  • NSO evo3S Series
Garmin
  • GPSMAP Series
  • ECHOMAP Series – All Current Models.  Please contact us if your Echomap is an earlier model than 2015.  We need to ensure there is support for NMEA 2000.
Humminbird
Outboard Compatibility

Secondly, your Suzuki Outboard needs to be:

  • 1999 or newer Suzuki Outboard.  If you have a Suzuki outboard built prior to 2008, please contact us for information on how to be certain your outboard can be connected to NMEA 2000.  Models built between 1999 and 2007 typically require the K8 adapter cable, our 2007 & Earlier Adapter Cable – SMIS to SDS.
  • For 2008 to 2012 models, about half the time, your outboard may also require another adapter cable, model number 990C0-88136).  Again, we can assist you to determine if you need this additional adapter cable in your bundle.  Please contact us with your outboard serial number.

With this kit, you will see fuel consumption rate, oil pressure, engine temperature, RPM, alternator voltage, fuel pressure, water pressure, and engine hours.  Many Suzuki Outboards will also provide trim data.

After that, you can also grow the system by adding other devices later as you want.

In addition, your new NMEA network is also an essential part of your trolling motors auto pilot capability with your fish finder

Fish Finder “Complications”
  • We have specific cable bundles for Suzuki outboard owners who also have a Humminbird Helix.  The bundle pages will assist you with which Humminbird specific cables you will need to complete your installation.
  • Sorry, the Lowrance Hook Series, and most of the smaller Garmin fish finders do not have NMEA networking.
  • SIMRAD Cruise Series is not NMEA capable.
  • Please contact us directly if you are using one of the following discontinued Garmin fish finders:  echoMAP CHIRP 52cv, echoMAP CHIRP 52dv, echoMAP CHIRP 53cv, echoMAP CHIRP 53dv, echoMAP CHIRP 54cv, echoMAP CHIRP 54dv, echoMAP CHIRP 55cv, echoMAP CHIRP 55dv, ECHOMAP Plus 62cv, ECHOMAP Plus 64cv and ECHOMAP Plus 65cv.  These models require an adapter cable that was included with the product.  If you no longer have this cable, this kit will additionally require Garmin PN 010-12445-10.  Since this is a proprietary Garmin cable, we do not stock it.
