Tohatsu 4 stroke outboards that are 25 HP and up all have NMEA 2000 capability starting in the 2014 model year.  Prior to 2022, the 25 and 30 HP models required an specific adapter cable that plugs directly into the ECU.  2021 and 2022 were transition years for these outboards, and some have the adapter cables already present, and some do not.  We can assist you in determining which model you have.  From 2023 onward, all Tohatsu outboards use the same cable.

Standard Tohatsu installations display engine hours, RPM, very accurate fuel consumption, oil pressure, engine temperature, and alternator voltage.

Outboards that have trim sending units can also send trim information to a fish finder or chart plotter using our Capn NMEA (Tohatsu version – coming soon).

This is the only parameter that you have to choose if you want your existing gauge to work, or have the data displayed on your fish finder. All the rest of your existing gauges will continue to work exactly as they do now.

We also provide detailed photos of what to look for during your NMEA 2000 installation.  In particular the 40/50/60 HP family has a few tricks.  The photos in our installation instructions are certain to save you some time.
