Description
Our Better Connected™ Command Link HUB to NMEA Converter Cable allows installation of a NMEA 2000 fish finder or GPS chart plotter on Yamaha Command Link equipped boats.
Since fish finders and GPS chart plotters need an NMEA 2000 network to display engine data, Command Link presents a problem. First, until now, there was no Command Link device cable designed to connect an NMEA device. Second, most Factory Command Link installations have all their device ports already full from the factory. Therefore, there is no way to plug in the new device.
Our Better Connected™ Command Link HUB to NMEA Converter Cable provides an elegant solution to this problem. While protecting the boat owners existing Command Link investment and cabling, this cable provides a bridge for Command Link to an NMEA 2000 network which can then add NMEA 2000 devices anywhere in the boat easily and logically, now, or in the future. Once installed, this bridge allows NMEA 2000 messages to be transmitted both TO and FROM the Command Link Network.
Simple Installation
Command Link hubs are usually installed in two locations. Typically, these are:
Stern location – Complete Command Link to NMEA 2000 Stern Cabling KitYadaYada
Helm location – Complete Command Link to NMEA 2000 Helm Cabling KitYadaYada
Think of your NMEA 2000 backbone as a main highway. The individual devices, like your fish finder, are feeder roads.
Your Command Link hub is one end of the highway. But, the highway can run up to 100 yards/meters in the other direction with the Better Connected™ Command Link HUB to NMEA Converter Cable.
Remove either of the grey resistor plugs from the Yamaha Command Link Hub BUS ports. Then, plug in this cable.
You can now add NMEA devices from that point further down the line. Add more feeder roads with Tees and cables. Just remember that the other end of the highway has to be an NMEA terminator.
You can now connect your fish finder, and you can also add the the Yamaha 6Y8 Tachometer, or Speedometer in your helm on your new NMEA Network, instead of adding extra Command Link hubs.

Our Commitment to Quality & Why it Matters
Connectors and connector pins in this cable assembly are from Japan, and are exactly the same OEM as your outboard’s connector. We never use knock off connector components in any of our cable assemblies. This means the connector components always mate properly with your outboard. Not surprisingly, it also saves our manufacturing staff headaches with assembly, since all parts are to a tighter mechanical spec. This saves all of us money and headaches in the long run.
Also, connectors need to be sealed where they connect with your engine wiring harness. Otherwise, moisture and contamination can build up, corroding the connectors on your engines wiring harness. This is something we are very careful about, connector contamination lead to intermittent outboard operation, or the need to either fix or replace the wiring harness in your outboard. All of our outboard cables create a perfect seal with the engine wiring harness when installed. You will see that in all of our cables, appropriate blanking seals are used in unoccupied pin locations.
Manufactured in Canada using OEM Command Link connectors from Japan, and UL registered, tinned, NMEA cable. Made in house by our skilled staff using the very best tools. Final testing in Canada.
You cannot buy a better cable.
