Description
Our Yamaha Command Link to NMEA bundle will connect your fish finder(s) to your existing Command Link system. So, you can see your outboard engine data on your fish finder. It will also provide a completely expandable NMEA 2000 network to allow for future expansion with other NMEA 2000 devices. It does this in a manner that keeps your existing Command Link equipment working exactly as it is now.
Yamaha Engine Interface to Command Link and NMEA Gateway
You may be confused about needing the Yamaha Engine interface to Command Link and NMEA 2000 gateway. You never need this adapter, or similar devices made by third parties, to connect NMEA 2000 devices to a Command Link Network. However, it is only fair to mention that it may make it easier to set up your fish finder to display engine information.
Some brands of fish finder will sense the presence of this device in the NMEA 2000 installation, and automatically add another screen for the new outboard engine data. Without the Yamaha Engine interface to Command Link and NMEA 2000 gateway, you will have to manually set up your fish finder engine screen to place things like oil pressure on the gauge you want, and repeat this for each of the other engine parameters. However, there is no difference on which engine parameters can be displayed either way. The only difference is a pretty screen you don’t have to set up on your fish finder and you will find your self without $500 or more.
A Demonstration
Command Link is electrically identical to NMEA 2000. This bundle provides the necessary cable components to have both NMEA 2000 and Command Link in your boat, and to benefit from the best aspects of both.

Command Link Plus is Completely Different
Command Link Plus is completely different than Command Link. You should never confuse the two. They do not talk to each other. Command Link Plus will not talk to NMEA 2000. You must use the Yamaha Command Link to NMEA 2000 interface. This is a perfectly valid setup if that is what you need.
A Command Link hub is little more than a wiring harness. It does not care if Command Link or Command Link Plus signal are going through it. So Command Link Hubs do not indicate if your boat is wired with Command Link, or Command Link plus. Here’s how you can check if your boat is Command Link versus Command Link Plus. If your boat is equipped with a “Fly by Wire” system, you have Command Link Plus. Don’t know that term? Then, there is almost no likelihood that your boat has it. Command Link Plus is generally used in much larger vessels, and is not common with boats under 40 feet.
Summary
Have Command Link, and need to see outboard engine data on your fish finder? This Yamaha Command Link to NMEA bundle will give your boat the best of both worlds. Plus, it does a great job at a great price.
