Description
An NMEA Tee is what you use to add another device to your NMEA network. Think of it as a splitter for the cable, or a 3 way connection. We call the one connection that is at 90 degrees, the “spur”. This is generally going to a shorter “drop” cable connected to a NMEA 2000 capable device, like your fish finder. The two straight through connections are generally connected to, and extend, the backbone cable.
This is the industry standard “2 female and 1 Male” NMEA Tee junction.
All of our NMEA components use high quality PVC insulated cable, and the internal wiring contains both a shield for the outside cable jacket for durability and strength while you are installing it and to ensure long cable life. The power pairs and signal pairs are also shielded to prevent interference between power and the signals. There is also a separate ground “drain” wire in the middle of the cable to ensure a consistent ground signal level for the entire length of the cable.

Every NMEA Tee we sell goes though our main Canadian facility and each Tee is tested prior to being packaged. Our automated testing runs over 30 checks on each NMEA Tee. We check that connections are correct between each pin on each connector, both through and off the Tee connection, and we also check that each pin is not shorted to any other pin, one by one.
We have invested heavily in our cable testing equipment. Key components of our test setup is of our own design, and it thoroughly checks each NMEA component we sell. There is not a single NMEA product you can buy from Golden Channels that is not put through extensive testing. We never just assume anything works before sending it to any of our valued customers.
