Description
Enjoy the benefits of installing a newer Yamaha Digital Tachometer or Speedometer, or both, without the need for a Command Link system. Connect your new gauges to your Yamaha Outboard using your NMEA network with the Better Connected™ Yamaha Command Link to NMEA Cable.
Available in two different lengths. Standard length of this cable is 0.5 meter or 18 inches, including the Tee. The extra long length of this cable is 1 meter or 36 inches, including the Tee.
This cable gives outboard engine data to the tach over NMEA. If your outboard has variable trolling speed, this connection also provides the tach commands to the outboard for this option. You must install this first cable because it provides power to the tach. If you want to use your new tach to control your trolling speed, you should also verify that your Yamaha Outboard has the Variable Trolling Speed (VTS) feature installed. Current models generally have this already. But my 2009 F150 doesn’t, for example.
Installing both Fuel and Tach Gauges? You may also need a Command Link Fuel Tank and Speedo Cable. This cable connects the Command Link speedometer input from a GPS device on the NMEA network. In addition, it provides analog input readings from up to two fuel tanks.
If you only have Command Link, but need NMEA instead, or as well as, Command Link, check out our Better Connected™ Command Link HUB to NMEA Converter Cable
Simple Installation
These cables just connect on the back of your 6Y8 Speedo and/or Tach the same way a Command Link cable would. The opposite end connects to your NMEA Backbone.
We offer a complimentary consultation on how to hook this cable up to your Yamaha Speedometer and your fish finder. We will also work with you to ensure it works and check that your fish finder provides the correct connections on a one on one basis. Just contact us for help with this.

Our Commitment to Quality & Why it Matters
Connectors and connector pins in this cable assembly are from Japan, and are exactly the same OEM as your Yamaha speedometer and tach. We never use knock off connector components in any of our cable assemblies. This means the connector components always mate properly with your speedometer. Not surprisingly, it also saves our manufacturing staff headaches with assembly, since all parts are to a tighter mechanical spec. This saves all of us money and headaches in the long run.
Also, connectors need to be sealed where they connect. Otherwise, moisture and contamination can build up, corroding the connectors on your existing wiring harnesses or devices. This is something we are very careful about, connector contamination lead to intermittent operation, and the need to either fix or replace the wiring devices or wiring. All of our cables create a perfect seal with the devices or wiring harnesses they mate with when installed. You will see that in all of our cables, appropriate blanking seals are used in unoccupied pin locations.
Manufactured in Canada using OEM Command Link connectors from Japan, and UL registered, tinned, NMEA cable. Made in house by our skilled staff using the very best tools. Final testing in Canada.
You cannot buy a better cable.
