Description

The Yamaha 6Y8 Speed Adapter is designed to convert NMEA 2000 speed data for use with the Yamaha 6Y8 Speedos Blue and White 6 pin connection.

Use GPS Speed from fish finders which do not have NMEA 0183 with a Yamaha 6Y8 Speedo

Yamaha Speedos have a peculiar behavior.  They ignore speed on their NMEA 2000 / Command Link connections.  Speed information MUST come to them on a the blue and white wires labelled (+) and (-) on their 6 pin connector, using NMEA 0183 instead of NMEA 2000.

However, there are many fish finders do not have NMEA 0183 signals coming out.  These include, but are not limited to, the Lowrance Elite, and many Raymarine models.

The Capn NMEA Yamaha 6Y8 Speed Adapter can be used with any device that outputs GPS data on the NMEA 2000 network.  It also works on both the Yamaha 6Y8 Round or Yamaha 6Y8 Square gauges.

Most NMEA 2000 networks consist of one outboard and one fish finder.  You connect everything up and expect it to work, only to not see any engine data on your fish finder.  There are multiple cables in the system.  So, how do you determine which cable, tee, or terminator is bad?  Especially if you don’t have spare parts.
